Cranberry & Cheetah

On the last day before Christmas Break, my fellow fashionista, Meg, and I matched on accident. We were both wearing the color cranberry and cheetah print. It was most definitely a coincidence, but one of two great minds. Cranberry is such a fall/winter color. It starts off as the color of falling leaves, but also alludes to Christmas that is not too far away. And I don't think anyone can argue that cheetah print is all year round.

I decided to incorporate cranberry into my tights and cheetah into my flats, pairing them with a black sparkly bomber, and a white peplum top, which I tucked into black high-waisted shorts. Meg, on the other hand, chose to wear a cranberry scarf and an over-sized cheetah print sweater, pairing them with black leggings and tan moccasins. I think it's safe to say that we both did an excellent job picking out our outfits that morning. Anyways, I hope you have all had a great holiday and I hope you have a happy new year! 2013, here we come.

Black

I have this love for putting together outfits with a theme in mind. This theme, of course, was black; a color that has a somber and ominous connotation. We had been reading the story "Heart of Darkness" in literature class the other day which brought upon this outfit. The story ends with Kurtz, the selfish and sinful leader, mumbling on his death bed, "The horror! The horror!" Was he finally realizing that his acts in Africa were wrong on his part? We will never know. What we do know is that his last words will be echoed in our world forever. We also know that this story made for a fabulous outfit!

Sketches

For about a month and a half now, I've been collecting my best sketches from over the years to create a portfolio for a college that I'm applying to. These are the ones that I decided to include that, I believe, fully exhibit my creativity and inspirations as well as, my love for fashion. See your dream every day, mes amours.

Polka Dots

I love polka dots and I wear them with pride. My mother and I went to Park Avenue, Winter Park to eat lunch and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful day and scenery for a blog post.

I made a pact with myself this year that I would not stress about what my peers would think about my courageous fashion choices, especially boys; they tend to not understand why I dress the way I do. I dress this way because this is me and I'm never changing who I am. Anyways, I hope that you have all been shopping for fall! I have yet to but I've seen gorgeous styles that I wish to acquire soon. Be brave, mes amis!

P.S. I apologize for the inconsistency in my blogging, mes amis, but I have been so busy with senior year. I promise to try to post every week from now on.

The Transitional Period

Since I live in the Sunshine State, fall comes a little later for us because the warm, wet weather sticks with us for a while. Therefore, we have this awkward transitional period where it's so hot that shorts and sandals have to be acceptable. During this time, I tend to shy away from bright and pastel colors and move toward the darker, autumn shades. While eating lunch in the cafeteria yesterday, I came across an outfit that is a perfect definition of our transitional period. She wore a burgundy, polka-dotted top with mustard, high-waisted bow shorts and paired them with lovely, nude brogues. For accessories, she had on pearl studded-earrings and a couple pearl bracelets. The outfit was absolutely flawless! It had such an impression on me. Anyways, stay fashionable, everyone. Ont un jour heureux!

Summer in the City

What could be better than New York City? I'll answer that for you; nothing. This summer was one of the best of my life. From visiting D.C. to the greatest urban jungle, my schedule was packed. Aside from shopping in SoHo (my favorite!) to people watching while drinking a coffee at Starbucks, I went to the LIM Fashion Lab that LIM College has for high school students. I took the morning course of "Fashion Field Trip" where we visited a little hidden factory that design flowers for famous designers, the Red Light PR company, the publishing company, Condé Nast (publisher for Allure, Glamour, Lucky, Teen Vogue, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Vogue, etc.), and Hand Me Down Showroom where I learned all of the nuts and bolts of selling and buying. I learned more than I ever learned about the business of fashion in that week in New York City than ever before. I have decided that I would like to become a buyer. That would entail going to a school for fashion merchandising, which I hope to next year. While I was at this camp, I met a new friend named Alex who has impeccable style (as seen below) and is from Florida, too. It turned out we have a lot in common. I learned a lot from her, as well. I can't stress enough to you that you have to follow your dreams. Be happy, mes amours. Life is as simple as that.~

The Fashionable Life

Thank you, justgirlythings, for summing up the fashion part of my life in ten pictures. Life is meant to be lived through self-expression. The way I dress is my way of showing the world who I am. Vie amoureuse!

Sunshine in Paris

Sunshine in Paris

Isn't this just lovely? I had the most enjoyable time creating it on the site, Polyvore, that I recently found blog-hopping. I was inspired by the wonderful song by This Providence, "My Beautiful Rescue," and by that photo of the woman walking her cute pup. The colors (teal, white, gold, and beige) and the fabrics are cool and light; perfect for the summer weather. And the idea of setting the scene in Paris? Well, there is nothing better than strolling down the avenues of the elegant city of Paris, France and feeling the warm sun touch your cheeks as you dream about life, love, and, of course, fashion. I guess I'm feeling a little poetic today! Closing reminder: live life to the fullest, mes amis, and always keep fashion close to your heart.

Blazers

There is nothing more I love than playing around with blazers. They may make an outfit professional but they also have the ability to liven up an ensemble, especially when chosen in bright, statement colors. I have on a periwinkle blazer from Wet Seal and a fuchsia blazer from Forever 21, both equally as gorgeous. When I imagined these outfits, I had in mind: "a day in the hustle and bustle of the city." I'll be in New York City this summer for the LIM College Fashion Lab so I'll finally have the chance to bring these fantasies to life. Dream on, mes amours!

Spring Dress

With help from my best friend, Issy, I decided it would be a wonderful idea to do a photo shoot in my Florida backyard with nothing more than two ideal outfits for a perfect, radiant day. Chosen were two textured fabric dresses (the turquoise: lace; the white: eyelet) both from Francesca's Collections. They scream playful and fun yet still have sophistication and style. The tank-top-style strap and neckline are classic and fitting for the hot, spring sun. The accessories are nice and simple and add character without overwhelming. Enjoy, mon amis!
